Red root floater can appear green or red depending on its conditions. In nutrient rich water with gentle light it stays green, because the plant is well fed and produces plenty of chlorophyll. Under strong light with low nitrate it turns red, as the plant makes protective red pigments in response to the mild stress. Both colours are healthy, and the same plant can shift from one to the other as conditions change.
