Smooth Lava Tree Expo Hardscape
A striking tree hardscape created by Jag Aquatics as part of a Melbourne aquarium shop's display at the Pets and Aquariums Expo in 2022.
About the build
A twisting piece of driftwood forms the trunk and spreading branches of a tree, rising out of a pile of smooth, rounded lava stones that sit at its base like boulders on a hillside. The soft grey of the lava stone contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the wood, and the fine branches are ready to be dressed with moss or epiphytes to create a lush, bonsai style canopy once it goes into an aquarium.
