Seiryu Rock Arch Split Tank Scape
A dramatic rock arch built by Jag Aquatics for a split tank, using large pieces of Seiryu stone stacked and locked together to form a natural bridge across the middle of the aquarium. The arch is the whole story of this scape: two solid rock towers rise from either side and meet overhead, leaving an open window in the centre that draws the eye straight through to the back of the tank.

About the build
Fine driftwood roots are draped over the stone and spill down its face like the roots of a tree that has grown across the rocks over many years, giving the hard grey Seiryu a softer, aged and natural feel. Smaller Seiryu pieces and gravel are scattered around the base to blend the arch into a clean, pale sandy floor, so the whole structure looks like it has always been there.
Building an arch like this takes careful planning so every rock is balanced and secure before water ever goes in, and once planted with mosses and epiphytes on the roots it becomes a real centerpiece.
