First Place Forest Scape at the Australian National Aquascaping Competition
This is the scape that took out first place at the Australian national aquascaping competition in 2022, and it remains one of the proudest moments for Jagdeep Singh and Jag Aquatics. The tank was designed around one simple idea: the feeling of walking into an old forest.

About the build
Dark, twisted driftwood roots rise from both sides of the tank like ancient trunks, leaning in towards each other to frame a narrow sandy path that winds back into the distance. Every root was placed to draw the eye down that path, so the scape feels far deeper than the glass it sits in. Dark stone is tucked around the base of the wood like a rocky forest floor, softening into fine sand along the trail.
The planting was kept natural and a little wild. Soft clusters of bright green plants sit in the crooks of the roots like new growth catching the light, ferns spill out from the lower branches, and touches of red are scattered through the canopy to add warmth and depth. Nothing is too neat, just as it would be in a real forest.
When the judging was done, this forest scape was awarded 1st place and Jag lifted the national trophy. It captures everything Jag Aquatics stands for: natural aquascapes that tell a story, built with patience and an eye for detail.
