Dark Indonesian Driftwood and Seiryu 2 Foot Hardscape
A 2 foot hardscape by Jag Aquatics, designed as the foundation for a lush planted aquarium. At its heart is a single tree made from hand picked Jag Aquatics Dark Indonesian Driftwood, with a thick, twisting trunk that splits into fine branches, reaching up and out across the tank like an old tree standing alone on a hillside.
About the build
Around the base of the tree, Seiryu rocks are grouped into a natural rocky slope, with the larger stones set close to the trunk and smaller pieces scattered outwards so the layout flows from the centre to the edges. The rich tones of the driftwood and the grey, ridged Seiryu stand out beautifully against the dark nutrient rich soil, which is ready to feed a dense carpet and plenty of plants.
The open spaces between the branches and rocks have been left on purpose, so mosses, ferns and stem plants can fill in over time and turn the scape into a green, overgrown forest. Shown here in a crystal clear rimless tank on a glass stand, with a slim LED light above, it proves how much atmosphere one hand picked piece of wood can bring to a compact 2 foot aquarium.
